Zeitgeist
The Amoralists Present:
“Zeitgeist”
A Monthly scene night of volatility, sexuality, and uncontrolled decadence.
As performers, many of us yearn for that next opportunity to tell a story, an opportunity that in the working world of acting Doesn’t come alOng as much as we would like. ANd it is criTical for performers to continue to grow as artists as weLl as find a placE within an arTistic Community of friends and cOlleagues. Doing Monologues in the Mirror, alonE at home is a nice way to pRepare for an audition, but only through live performanCe can wE truly do what we’ve been trained to do, what we long to do, using our gifts as well as honing our skills.
In walks Zeitgeist: a handsome Creature, not conceRned with commercial success, Uncompromising in its deSire to unsettle the Human soul. Personification aside, Zeitgeist, is a monthlY scene night beginning this spring. Organized by, The Amoralists, Zeitgeist, seeks not only to allow artists to get mUch needed live performance experience but also seeks to develop an aRtistic community in a town and business where the Artist often feels isolated and at the meRcy of powers beyond their conTrol.
- The model is simple:
- Scenes can be no longer than ten minutes in length.
- Each scene must have a director. Having trouble finding one? Let us know.
- Published and Unpublished works are welcome.
- The actor(s) and director are required to meet with an auditor at a set date before the show, to make sure the work is on track. This assures a quality of work that will keep Zeitgeist professional, as well as vibrant.
These are the only rules, beyond them, bring us your violent, sexual, unstable tendencies and unleash them on the world.
And remember: this is a not only a place to perform, but also a place to workshop and experiment, we encourage pieces aimed at performance level production as well as those aimed at the development of new work.
Zeitgeist will run the second Monday of every month in a downtown NYC Theatre. Participation for those involved in the scene is free, however, space is limited, so get in touch! For scene ideas, questions, and comments please drop us a line at info(a)theamoralists.com
